Class 1 Owner-Operator — Dempster Highway, Whitehorse to Inuvik

Manitoulin Transport is looking for an incorporated owner-operator with a current model bunk truck to run linehaul freight on the Dempster Highway between Whitehorse and Inuvik. You'd operate under the Carrier's National Safety Code and Fleet Insurance Program, with consistent, ongoing work.

The route and schedule

• Primary lane: Whitehorse to Inuvik on the Dempster Highway

• Expect to work around 5 days/nights per stretch, including some weekends

• Schedule requires flexibility, including time away from home for extended periods

• Conditions include gravel and ice roads and mountain passes, so route awareness and adaptability matter

What the work involves

• Hauling freight safely and on time while following all transport rules and company policy

• Pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections

• Keeping logbooks, inspection reports and delivery paperwork up to date

• Securing loads and managing weight distribution

• Occasional dock work, loading and unloading freight, sometimes with a forklift

• Basic truck upkeep and troubleshooting on the road

• Staying in contact with dispatch and customers throughout your trips

What you'll need

• Class 1 license

• 5 years of experience driving in mountains

• Off-road driving experience is a strong plus

• Forklift experience

• A clean criminal record check and driver's abstract, plus 2 work references

• A dependable, professional approach to the job

Equipment

• You supply a mechanically sound bunk truck with ELD capability

• Truck must meet the Carrier's equipment specifications

• Your business must carry WCB coverage for its operators

• Compensation is mileage-based
