Class 1/3 Dump Truck Driver — $38.50/hr

Our company, part of Colas Western Canada, is looking for a Dump Truck Driver to join its team in Whitehorse, YT. You'll haul materials for road construction and related civil work, operating in city traffic and on job sites.

Pay

• Expected starting wage is $38.50/hr, with final pay depending on your experience and skills.

What you'll do

• Drive a dump truck through city traffic and around active work sites.

• Check your equipment before and after each trip to confirm it's safe and road-ready.

• Keep up with daily logs, inspection records and other required paperwork.

• Follow all relevant rules on safe driving, cargo handling, hours of service and workplace safety.

• Back the truck accurately and safely as needed.

• Watch for and report any safety hazards.

• Take on other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver's license.

• Comfortable performing routine inspections and basic mechanical checks on trucks.

• Familiar with road construction practices and safety rules, including how to complete pre- and post-trip checks and log books correctly.

• Able to spot potential safety issues on the job.

Working conditions

• Some travel and overtime may be required.

• Personal protective equipment must be worn on the job.

• You'll need to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and follow the company's ongoing testing policy.

• Expect outdoor work in all weather, including heat, cold and exposure to dust and asphalt.
