About this job

Our company LLC, in partnership with MTE-Leasing, is offering a lease purchase opportunity for CDL-A drivers who want to run their own truck on an OTR schedule across the lower 48 states. You'll be classified as a 1099 independent contractor under an 80/20 percentage pay split, with freight sourced from steady customers (70%) and brokers.

Pay

You keep 80% of gross revenue under this lease purchase arrangement. Weekly gross is estimated to average around $6,500, which the company translates into a projected annual range of $200,000 to $300,000 — though your actual take-home depends on miles run and lease costs. A $500 sign-on bonus is paid after your first 9,000 miles. Weekly mileage bonuses are also available: $100 for 2,100 miles, $225 for 2,300 miles, $275 for 2,500 miles, and $350 for 2,800 miles. Cash advances up to $200 per week are offered, and pay is deposited weekly with no delay.

Lease terms

Trucks available are 2023-or-newer Freightliner Cascadias or Kenworth T680s, each carrying the balance of its factory warranty plus a 7-day trial period. A $5,000 down payment is required (financeable at $300/week), and there's no credit check. Weekly lease payments run $750 for a 2023 model (3-year term), $850 for a 2024 model (3-year term), or $950 for a 2025 model (4-year term), with a $15,000 balloon payment due at lease end. No interest is charged; the program uses a Common Revenue Target model instead.

What you'll haul

This is all dry van, no-touch freight, with about 70% drop-and-hook. Driver-assist loads are optional. No hazmat, and no runs into Canada or Mexico.

Home time

You set your own schedule — there's no forced dispatch, so you choose your loads and how often you return home.

Requirements

You need at least 3 months of recent, verifiable CDL-A experience pulling 48-53 foot trailers, a valid CDL, and a valid DOT medical card on file. Drivers must live in one of the approved hiring states, which include VT along with most of the eastern and central US. SAP (Return-to-Duty) applicants are considered as long as Step 5 is complete; a C/TPA can be used to finish that step.

Costs and benefits

The company covers plate and registration, fuel card, physical damage insurance, Highway 2290/IRP, and IFTA reporting at your cost through lease deductions. Fuel and maintenance discounts are available and vary by location. As a 1099 contractor, you won't receive standard company benefits, but you can purchase additional coverage on your own.

The hiring carrier's name is shared with you once you apply through the DriverRoll app, where you can message them directly.
