Regional CDL-A Hazmat Driver — Home Weekends

Deliver helium cylinders to the same repeat customers on a dedicated territory, running a regional route with overnights during the week and weekends off at home. The freight is clean and non-flammable, and you keep covering one of four set zones on a weekly rotation.

Pay and bonuses

• Hourly pay with overtime, and strong overtime opportunity from January through June

• Sign-on bonus of $3,000+, paid out in installments

Home time and schedule

• Regional over-the-road route, not home daily

• Leave Monday morning, work through Thursday or Friday

• 3 to 4 nights away per week depending on the zone, staying in hotels rather than a sleeper

• Back home every Friday

• Four zones total, with one zone covered per week so your area stays consistent

What you'll haul

• Helium compressed gas cylinders delivered to scheduled, established customers

• Loading and unloading cylinders, and bringing empties back to the fill plant

What the job involves

• Daily pre-trip vehicle safety checks

• Delivery paperwork and staying DOT compliant

• Ongoing contact with regular customers, helping track their cylinder inventory

Requirements

• Class A CDL with Hazmat endorsement

• Either 1 year of driving experience or completion of driving school within the last 4 years

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Enough English to talk with customers, read road signs, answer official questions, and fill out reports

The equipment and physical demands

• New tractor and trailer

• Regular lifting of 25 to 75 lbs, with occasional lifts of 76 to 100+ lbs

• Lots of bending, walking, standing, reaching, and physical handling

• Working outside in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 100 degrees

• Need to notice gas leaking from a cylinder by smell or sound
