About this job
Our company is a fine art logistics company looking for a team-based OTR driver and art handler to run long-distance routes out of NYC. No CDL is required, but you'll need real truck driving experience and care for handling valuable, fragile cargo.
What you'll do
- Drive long-distance routes delivering goods to customers
- Load, unload, pack and carefully handle artwork
- Log deliveries and keep an accurate hours/activity record through the ELD
- Check your truck before trips, note any issues, and flag mechanical problems to maintenance
- Keep the vehicle clean (Ryder handles fueling and servicing)
- Follow traffic laws, report incidents to dispatch, and follow accident procedures
- Represent the company well with a professional attitude toward customers
- Keep your license and medical card current and maintain a clean driving record
Requirements
- At least 2 years of truck driving experience with a clean MVR and safety record
- No DUI/DWI in the last seven years
- High school diploma or equivalent, minimum age 21
- Comfortable working as part of a two-person driving team
- Legible handwriting, dependable, and professional in appearance
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Experience with cargo securement or fragile freight is a plus
Physical demands
- Able to lift 50 pounds or more regularly
- Able to stand, bend, lift and drive for extended stretches
- This is full-time employment, not gig work, in a drug-free workplace
Pay
- Day rate of $260.00 to $280.00, depending on experience
- No pressure to rush for mileage pay
- Trips typically run about 21 days followed by a week off, with some schedule flexibility
- Tax-free per diem paid for every day on the road
Home time and team setup
- You'll drive as part of a two-person team — bring your own partner or get matched with one of the company's drivers
Benefits
- Lodging and meal per diem covered by the company
- Medical, dental and vision coverage
- 401(k) plan after you become eligible
- Company credit card for on-the-road expenses
- Secure parking provided for your personal vehicle while you're out on routes
