OTR Driver - Class A - High Cube Containers

Cold Rush is hiring solo OTR CDL-A drivers to run dedicated freight between the central United States and California, hauling 40-foot high-cube containers. The company says it tries to give drivers a realistic picture of miles, pay and home time before they start.

Pay

• Starting rate of $0.57 CPM, paid on both loaded and empty miles

• Solo drivers average around 3,000 miles per week, which works out to roughly $1,700 weekly or about $88,000 a year before bonuses

• Top performers may reach approximately $95,000 to $110,000 a year depending on miles, home time, and performance

• Pay is deposited weekly

• Longevity raise of 1 CPM every six months

• $200 per month safety bonus for drivers who qualify

• Referral bonus of 2 CPM on miles run by drivers you refer, for as long as they stay employed

What you'll haul

• Mostly 40-foot high-cube containers, split between refrigerated and dry trailers

• Freight includes beef, pork, produce, wine, other frozen or cold items, and general dry goods

• Loads are no-touch and mostly drop-and-hook

• You'll run dedicated lanes with repeat freight, typically around two loads a week in an out-and-back pattern

• You're allowed to turn down loads if needed

Home time

• How often you get home depends on your location relative to Cold Rush's freight lanes

• Drivers based near Denver/Greeley CO, Cheyenne WY, Albuquerque NM, Kingman AZ, Dodge City KS, North Platte/Lincoln/Grand Island NE, Reno NV, Sacramento/Oakland-Bay Area CA, or Amarillo TX may get a weekly 34-hour reset at home

• Drivers farther from these lanes may be out for stretches of about three weeks

• Before committing to a home-time schedule, the company will go over your specific city and ZIP code with you

Hiring areas

Cold Rush is recruiting drivers from parts of California, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Hiring needs and home-time options differ by area.

Equipment

• 2025 or newer Freightliner Cascadias with automatic transmissions, governed at 70 MPH

• Only front-facing dash cameras

• Trucks include a fridge, inverter, Opti Idle, and PrePass

• Dispatch and load info come through a company-issued tablet

• You may take your assigned truck home

• Trucks are typically replaced around 320,000 miles

Pets and riders

• Pets up to 70 lbs are welcome, with no pet deposit currently charged

• Riders over age 12 can ride along with authorization

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL

• At least 2 years of OTR or regional CDL-A driving experience (local-only experience doesn't count)

• Current DOT medical card

• No more than 5 jobs in the past 3 years

• No more than 1 major moving violation in the past 3 years

• No more than 2 DOT-recordable accidents in the past 3 years

• No more than 3 total incidents in the past 3 years

• Able to qualify for a TWIC card

• Able to drive automatic-transmission trucks

• Drivers who finished the SAP process may be considered case by case; an incomplete SAP disqualifies you

Orientation

• Held in Salt Lake City, Utah, starting on Tuesdays

• Runs about 1.5 days

• $200 orientation pay once you finish
