Material Handler & Class A Driver

Our company in Charlotte, NC needs a material handler who also steps in as a delivery driver. Most of your time is spent in the warehouse, and you drive when regular drivers are out or extra routes need covering.

What you'll drive

• Class A single or tandem axle day cabs rated for 45,000 lbs., or a box truck

• Deliveries of materials to customer shops and job sites

• Slide side curtain trailers

Driving duties

• Collect signatures on delivery, plus COD or cash payment when required

• Keep your ELD or logbook, trip reports, fuel and toll tickets and vehicle condition reports up to date

• Do pre-trip inspections and check tires, lights, brakes and fluids

• Tie down loads with runners, boards, ratchet straps, chains and binders, and keep them stable and balanced

• Check items and quantities at drop-off and report any delivery variances

Warehouse duties

• Receive and check incoming material, restock, pick, palletize, stage and load or unload trucks

• Run sit-down and stand-up forklifts, moffetts, pallet jacks and hand trucks

• Scan with WMS radio frequency devices and do some data entry

• Label, count and record materials, and keep the work area clean

Requirements

• Valid CDL, Class A or B, and DOT certification

• Able to get certified and licensed on forklifts and keep that current

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Safe driving record and a safety-first attitude

• Basic computer skills; WMS experience is a plus

Work conditions

• Warehouse and on-the-road work, indoors and outdoors in all weather

• Non-exempt (hourly) position; pay is not stated in the posting
