Local Truck Driver (3/5-Ton, Cube & Panel Van) — $18.30–$27.44/hr

Our company in Dartmouth, NS is hiring a permanent, full-time driver to move goods and donations between its distribution centre, ministry units and donor sites. You would drive 3-ton or 5-ton trucks, cube vans or panel vans, with some warehouse work mixed in.

Pay

• Hourly pay from $18.30 to $27.44.

• The target hiring range is $18.30 to $22.87, with $27.44 as the maximum.

• Where you land depends on market conditions, internal equity, and your experience and skills.

What you'll do

• Deliver goods from the distribution centre to ministry units and other assigned locations.

• Pick up donated items from donor sites and bring them to a ministry unit, the distribution centre or another assigned location.

• Do a circle check before leaving, watch for vehicle defects during the day, and keep fuel and fluids topped up.

• Keep the daily CVOR log as regulations require, and load and run the vehicle within Ministry of Transportation rules.

• At the distribution centre, you may use a forklift or hand cart, build skids, count product and handle other warehouse tasks.

• Submit paperwork on time and keep the vehicle, warehouse and yard clean and safe.

• Help train new Driver II and III staff when needed.

Working conditions

• Permanent, full-time role reporting to the DRC Manager.

• You may work in varied temperatures and outdoors, including a freezer, and lift up to 50 lbs.

• Occasional work outside regular hours, flexible scheduling at peak or seasonal times, and some day or short-term travel.

Requirements

• 1 year of safe driving experience and a valid full licence for your province.

• A current original driver's abstract that satisfies our company, and a clean driving record (report any changes).

• High school diploma; other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

• A forklift operator certificate may be needed in some cases.

• Strong navigation skills, a professional and friendly manner, and the ability to work alone or on a team.

• Pass screening and background checks, and complete mandatory orientation training, including online abuse prevention certification.
