About this job
Our company, a transportation and logistics company serving the Greater Toronto Area, is hiring a local straight truck driver for deliveries across the GTA. Pay starts from $21.00 per hour.
Pay
- Starting from $21.00 per hour
What you'll haul
- Drive a company-owned straight/box truck, mainly a 26-foot vehicle, on local GTA routes and nearby areas
- Handle assigned pickups and drop-offs based on daily dispatch instructions
- Secure and handle freight safely, helping with loading when needed
Requirements
- Hold a driver's licence valid for the vehicle assigned, with an air brake endorsement if required
- Prior experience with straight trucks, box trucks or similar delivery vehicles is a plus
- Familiarity with GTA routes and commercial deliveries is an asset
- Clean driving record meeting insurance and vehicle requirements
- Good communication, organizational and time-management skills
- Legally able to work in Canada
- May need to show valid licensing and a driver's abstract during hiring
Responsibilities
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and keep records
- Secure freight for safe transport
- Keep dispatch updated on delivery status, delays and schedule changes
- Fill out bills of lading, proof-of-delivery paperwork and driver logs accurately
- Communicate professionally with customers, warehouse staff and dispatch
- Follow MTO rules, traffic laws and company safety procedures
- Report any vehicle issues, accidents or safety concerns right away
