Entry-Level CDL-A Regional Driver — Home Weekly, $0.69/mi

This is a dedicated regional route hauling paper mill freight out of Glens Falls, NY, Monday through Friday, with weekends off. New CDL holders are welcome and trained on this route.

Pay

• $0.69 per mile

• About $1,300 average weekly gross

• $850 a week while training

• $150 a day on-call pay if no load is ready

• $50 backhaul pay when available

• $15 stop pay, $35 on short runs

• About 1,800 miles a week

• $300 bonus once hired

Home time

You run Monday to Friday and are home every weekend. Weekend work is optional. You're also off for the 6 company holidays.

What you'll haul

Loads are picked up at a paper mill in Glens Falls. About 70% go to New Jersey and Pennsylvania, with a mix of live unloads and preloaded trailers. In winter, you may need to chain up, and training is provided for that.

Training

After applying, a recruiter reviews your license and driving record. Orientation runs up to 2 days, with hotel provided and bus ticket reimbursed. You then spend 4 to 6 weeks training with a mentor, paid the whole time, before going solo in your own assigned truck.

Requirements

• Class A CDL, age 21 or older

• 120 hours from a CDL school, or 6 months of recent experience

• Up to 2 moving violations in the last 2 years, no DUI/DWI in the last 10 years

• Must pass a DOT physical and a hair and urine drug test

• Must live within 100 miles of Glens Falls
