Entry-Level CDL-A Regional Driver — Home Every 3 Weeks, Paid Training

This regional trucking job is based out of the East Valley near Mesa, AZ, and welcomes brand-new CDL-A graduates. You will run western and Midwest lanes, including Texas, staying out of the East Coast, with trips capped at three days before you are back home.

Routes and schedule

• You will run regional lanes through the Midwest and Texas, nothing east of the Mississippi

• No trip lasts longer than 3 days

• You will be off the road and home every three weeks

• Weekend driving is part of the normal schedule

Pay

• Training pay starts at $850 a week from day one

• Once you are driving solo, your pay will not drop below $1,000 a week for your first 3 months

• After that, drivers typically bring home $1,100 to $1,200 a week on average

• Expect to log 2,200 to 2,400 miles weekly

• There is a monthly bonus tied to performance

• Paychecks come weekly

Getting started as a new driver

• A recruiter will go over your CDL and driving record with you by phone

• Orientation runs up to 2 days, with your hotel covered and your one-way bus fare reimbursed; you also receive $300 once you are hired

• Next comes 4 to 6 weeks riding with a mentor driver, where you will practice backing, trip planning, logging and fueling, paid at $850 a week

• After that, you get your own truck, averaging 1.5 years old, with either a 10-speed or automatic transmission, and your pay is guaranteed at $1,000 minimum weekly for 3 months

What you need

• Must be at least 21 years old

• Class A CDL required; new graduates need 120+ hours of training, or you can qualify with 6 months of recent driving experience

• No DUI or DWI within the last 10 years, and no more than 2 moving violations in the last 2 years

• Must pass a DOT physical along with a hair and urine drug test
