Driver Trainee — Paid CDL-A Training, Home Daily, $78,000–$95,000 After

Our company is looking for a Driver Trainee in Baldwinsville, NY to learn the ropes of commercial driving while earning pay from day one. You'll train alongside an experienced Driver Trainer, picking up the skills and CDL-A license needed to move into a full driving role.

Pay

• While training, you earn $22.50 per hour.

• Once trained, drivers earn $78,000 to $95,000 per year.

Schedule and home time

• You'll be home daily, though your route schedule will vary.

• CDL-A drivers need to be available for overnight loads.

• This is a team driving position.

What you'll do

• Ride along and train with a Driver Trainer, learning safe starts, turns, backing, parking and maneuvering both on the road and at customer sites.

• Help attach and secure trailers to the tractor.

• Check tractor-trailer equipment before and after trips and file DOT inspection reports.

• Use the Driver Delivery Handheld to log delivery receipts, product temperatures and any exceptions.

• Keep driver logs (manual or PeopleNet) in line with DOT rules.

• Help unload trailers and bring product into customer locations.

• Take on other tasks as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• At least 21 years old.

• Must meet our company's internal transfer and promotion eligibility rules.

• Earn your Class A CDL within 6 months of starting.

• Willing to select, load, unload and deliver any product our company customers order.

• Able to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat and stoop as the job requires.

• Able to read and understand labels, instructions and bills of lading, and do basic math to check product quantities.

• Comfortable communicating with customers, managers and teammates.

• Capable of safely operating a tractor-trailer, a two-wheeled dolly, a ramp and onboard PeopleNet devices.

• English proficiency sufficient to follow safety protocols, work instructions and job communications.
