About this job
Our company in Bloomfield, NJ is looking for an experienced over-the-road driver to haul a mix of freight types across varied routes. You'll work with dry vans, reefers, flatbeds and tankers, including hazardous materials loads, while keeping everything compliant and on schedule.
What you'll haul
- Dry van, refrigerated, flatbed and tanker trailers on OTR routes
- Hazardous materials and other dangerous goods, following hazmat rules and safety procedures
Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight safely, using proper handling methods for each trailer type
- Plan routes and use GPS to hit delivery windows while staying within FMCSA and DOT rules
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Keep accurate logs covering hours of service, cargo paperwork and inspections
Requirements
- Valid CDL with endorsements for hazmat, tanker or other specialized freight as needed
- Proven experience driving commercial trucks and handling freight deliveries
- Comfortable and safe operating a manual transmission truck
- Solid knowledge of loading/unloading procedures for reefers, flatbeds and tankers
- Working knowledge of FMCSA, DOT and hazmat regulations
- Experience hauling vehicles or specialty cargo is a plus
