CDL-B Pickup & Delivery Driver — $29.45–$34.09/hr

Our company in East Syracuse, NY is looking for a CDL-B driver to run pickup and delivery routes between service centers and customer locations, operating a straight truck in a multi-temperature freight environment.

Pay

• Starting at $29.45 per hour, with a pay range up to $34.09 per hour

• If you're assigned linehaul work, you'll also get mileage pay plus fixed pay for certain linehaul tasks, calculated as a fraction (3/4, 1/2, or 1/4) of your hourly rate rather than time worked

• Actual pay depends on factors like experience, tenure, schedule and assignment

What you'll do

• Drive a straight truck on pickup and delivery runs, keeping to schedule and providing friendly, professional service, including picking up new business along the way

• Secure loads with pallets, straps and rope, and load/unload freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or by hand

• Run pre-trip and post-trip safety checks on your equipment, chain tires when needed, and stay in contact with dispatch about delays, arrivals or mechanical issues

• Handle paperwork, collect payment for freight charges when required, and follow hazmat placarding and handling rules

• Step in as a freight handler when the job calls for it

Requirements

• Valid CDL-B with hazmat and tanker endorsements (hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of your offer; automatic transmission restriction is okay)

• At least 1 year of experience driving a straight truck or similar vehicle in the last 3 years, or completion of our company's Driver Development Course

• Minimum age 21

• Clean enough driving record to meet company hiring standards

• Strong customer service and communication skills, basic math ability, and the ability to read route schedules

• Able to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds, and handle sitting, bending, twisting, squatting, and climbing in and out of the truck

• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all weather, around noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes and DOT-regulated hazardous materials

• Schedule may vary based on operational needs
