CDL-B Pick-Up and Delivery Driver — $29.45–$34.09/hr

Our company in East Syracuse, NY is looking for a CDL-B driver to handle pick-up and delivery runs between service centers and customer locations, driving straight trucks in a multi-temperature setting.

Pay

• Starts at $29.45 per hour, with a pay range of $29.45 to $34.09 per hour depending on experience, tenure and other job-related factors.

• If you're assigned linehaul work, you'll also earn mileage pay plus fixed amounts for certain linehaul tasks, calculated as a portion (3/4, 1/2 or 1/4) of your hourly rate rather than by time spent.

What you'll do

• Keep deliveries on schedule while giving customers friendly, professional service, including picking up new business along the way.

• Load and secure freight using pallets, straps, rope and similar equipment, and handle loading/unloading yourself when needed.

• Run pre-trip and post-trip safety checks on your equipment and chain tires when conditions call for it.

• Stay in contact with dispatch about delays, arrivals or equipment issues, and fix or repair damaged freight where you can.

• Fill out required paperwork, collect payment for freight charges when applicable, and keep accurate records.

• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks as needed, and follow all hazmat placarding and handling rules.

• Be ready to work outdoors in all kinds of weather, around noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes and materials shipped under DOT hazmat rules; schedules can shift based on business needs.

Requirements

• Valid Class B CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements (hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of your offer); automatic transmission restriction is acceptable.

• At least 1 year of experience driving a straight truck or similarly sized vehicle in the last 3 years, or completion of our company's Driver Development Course.

• Minimum age 21, with an acceptable motor vehicle record per company standards.

• Strong communication and customer service skills, basic math ability, and comfort reading route schedules.

• Able to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds, sit for long stretches, and bend, twist, squat or climb in and out of the truck as the job requires.

• Able to work both independently and as part of a team, and to complete required training.
