CDL-B Local Truck Driver — $30.91–$34.40/hr — Newark, NJ

Our company is looking for a Class B straight truck driver to run local intrastate routes out of Newark, NJ. You'll handle both driving and freight handling duties, working a variable schedule across days, nights and weekends.

Pay

• $30.91 to $34.40 per hour, based on an annual step progression

• Actual rate depends on your experience and skill set

• Classified as Motor Carrier Act Exempt

What you'll do

• Drive a straight truck rated 26,001 lb. GVWR/GVW or higher, following state rules for intrastate commercial straight trucks

• Load and unload freight, using a forklift and pallet jack as needed

• Interact with customers and help generate sales leads

• Spend up to 11 consecutive hours driving in varying weather, hauling both hazardous and non-hazardous materials

• Be on your feet, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling and lifting items up to 50 lbs. regularly (and over 75 lbs. at times), on surfaces that can be uneven, slick or outdoors in rough weather

Requirements

• At least 21 years old

• Class B CDL with no air brake restriction

• Clean driving history

• Must pass a DOT drug screen, with no past positive results or refusals

• Must pass a company-paid DOT physical and pre-employment functional test

• Open to working flexible shifts of 12-14 hours, any time of day or week

• Hold or be able to get a Federal Medical Certificate, and self-certify as Non-Exempt Interstate

• Hazmat and tanker endorsements required within 90 days of starting (having them already is a plus)

• Able to read and speak English well enough to talk with customers, read road signs, answer official questions, and complete written reports
