About this job
Our company in Houston, TX is looking for a CDL-A truck driver to haul loads between distribution centers, stores and vendor locations. You'll run over-the-road tractors pulling 53' trailers, including refrigerated units, while following all safety and DOT rules.
What you'll do
- Deliver goods to stores and other customers and pick up backhauls from vendors, checking quantities as you load
- Check your truck before, during and after each trip, and report any issues
- Monitor the refrigeration unit on reefer trailers for problems
- Weigh loads and unload merchandise at stores
- Back 53' trailers into docks at stores and vendor sites
- Work with pallet jacks, dollies and other standard trucking equipment
- Be available for any shift, including regular weekend work
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- At least 21 years old
- Meets DOT physical standards for Class A drivers
- At least 1 year of active driving experience, including 1 year of doubles experience (or an equivalent mix of education and experience); a year of tractor-trailer experience is a plus
- Comfortable reading safety and maintenance instructions, writing basic reports, and handling routine math (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, percentages, ratios)
- Able to travel independently and communicate clearly with customers and coworkers
