About this job
Our company needs a CDL-A driver for a dedicated steel coil route out of the Hartford, CT area. You run a fixed round trip between West Hartford, CT and Philadelphia, PA, Monday through Friday, and sleep in your own bed every night.
Pay
- First-year mileage rate: $0.52 per mile, on roughly 2,300 miles a week
- Hourly option stated: $23.00 per hour to start, $34.50 overtime; after 12 months $24.00 per hour with $36.00 overtime
- First-year weekly pay averages $1250 - $1350
- Stop pay of $17 per stop, around 10 stops each week
- $500 one-time bonus, paid on your second paycheck
- If the customer cancels a load, you are still guaranteed 8 hours
Schedule and home time
- Monday to Friday, with weekends off
- Typical shift runs about 1:30 PM to 2:30 AM, so you must be fine with afternoon and night work
- Home every day
What you'll haul
- Steel coils on wooden pallets, mostly for construction customers, in a dry van
- You secure the coils yourself by nailing wood into the trailer floor; apart from that, the freight is no-touch
- Live loading in Philadelphia
- Truck: 2022 Kenworth T680, automatic transmission
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- At least 6 months of recent tractor-trailer experience
- Live within 30 miles of Hartford, CT
- Comfortable securing loads with wood and nails and with live loading
- Able to meet DOT, safety and load-securement standards, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections
