About this job
Our company, a FedEx Ground contractor working out of Stratford, CT, needs delivery drivers for home and ground routes around New Haven. You drive a company box truck and no delivery experience is needed, because they train you.
Pay
- Starting pay is $800 per week, rising to as much as $1,300 per week depending on experience.
- New hires get one to two weeks of paid training at $120 per day, riding with a veteran driver.
- Earn an extra $1 for every stop after your 100th.
- Paychecks arrive weekly, on Fridays.
Schedule
- Five days a week, with one weekend day included.
- Routes begin at 7:30 AM and run until all deliveries are done, usually 8 to 10 hours.
The work
- Deliver packages to homes and other drop-off points across the New Haven area.
- Load and unload packages, follow your route and deal with customers.
- Drive a company-provided box truck (P700 to P1200 models), roughly 50 miles a day.
- The job is physical: lots of bending, lifting and climbing in and out of the truck.
Requirements
- Age 21 or older.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Pass a background check and drug test before starting.
- Able to lift up to 150 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Comfortable working on your own and juggling several tasks.
