About this job
Drive a company-owned Landstar truck on long-haul routes across the country, hauling a variety of freight depending on the load and your qualifications. This OTR role is not for drivers who need to be home every weekend.
Pay
- Starts at $0.75 per mile
- Increases to $0.85 per mile after 3 months
- Rises again to $1.00 per mile after 6 months
- Weekly earnings typically run $1,500 to $3,000
Home time
- Expect to be out 2-3 weeks at a stretch, with up to a week off between runs
What you'll haul
- Freight varies by assignment and may include refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or vehicle transport
- Some loads may require driver-assisted loading
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record, meeting DOT and FMCSA standards
- At least 1 year of commercial driving experience
- Hazmat endorsement is mandatory, no exceptions
- Comfortable using GPS for trip planning and following load-specific safety rules
- Experience with specialized equipment like reefers, flatbeds, tankers, or forklifts is a plus
