CDL-A OTR Driver (Trainees Welcome) — Tucson — Home Every 3 Weeks

This OTR position runs out of the Tucson yard, with shop and truck parking on site. New CDL school grads are welcome, and our company will get you trained and rolling.

Pay

• $850 a week while you're training

• Once solo, your pay won't fall below $1,000 a week for your first 3 months

• $1,100 a week on average after that

• $5 for your first stop, $15 for each one after

• Weekly paychecks

Miles and home time

• 1,800 to 2,100 miles a week

• Home every three weeks

• This is full OTR work, so expect to be out on the road between home stretches

Getting started

Once you apply, a recruiter will go over your license and driving record with you. Orientation takes up to 2 days, with your hotel covered, your one-way bus fare reimbursed, and a $300 payment once you're hired. After that, you'll spend 4 to 6 weeks riding with a mentor who'll walk you through backing, trip planning, logs and fueling, and you'll earn $850 a week during this stretch. From there, you move into your own assigned truck.

Equipment and freight

The fleet averages about 1.5 years old, with both 10-speed and automatic transmissions. Freight is a mix of drop and hook, live loads, and some unloading. Trucks get serviced while you're home, so you won't lose time to maintenance once you're back out.

Requirements

• 21 or older with a Class A CDL

• Either a recent CDL school grad with 120+ hours of training, or 6 months of recent driving experience

• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 2 years, and no DUI/DWI in the last 10 years

• Must pass a DOT physical, hair test and urine test

Support on the road

If something comes up while you're driving, you won't be handling it alone — your trips are planned out ahead of time and your driver leader is available by phone. If your school hours were on the shorter side, 120 hours still qualifies you. And if your early solo weeks are light on miles, you're still guaranteed at least $1,000 that week for your first 3 months.
