About this job
Our company is hiring a company CDL-A driver for long-distance over-the-road work out of Columbus, IN. You will haul freight in a tractor-trailer, plan trips with GPS and keep deliveries on time. Depending on the load, the trailer may be refrigerated, a flatbed, a tanker or a car hauler.
Pay
- Weekly pay in the range of $1,400.00 to $2,000.00.
What you'll do
- Run OTR and route assignments, handling pickups and deliveries safely.
- Check the truck and freight before, during and after each trip, flag any problems and secure the load.
- Load and unload freight, or coordinate that work, using safe lifting methods.
- Stick to GPS directions, route plans, delivery instructions and the rules on driving and rest time.
Requirements
- A valid CDL Class A.
- Background in commercial truck driving, commercial driving or delivery work.
- Safe driving habits and familiarity with tractor-trailer equipment.
- Able to drive a manual transmission when the assignment calls for it.
- Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
Nice to have
- Experience with reefer, flatbed, tanker or car-hauling equipment, plus cargo handling and freight delivery.
- Hazmat or dangerous goods experience and knowledge of hazmat regulations.
