About this job
Our company is looking for a Class A OTR driver to haul freight between its distribution centers, suppliers, customers and approved partner locations. You'll run dry and temperature-controlled trailers on multi-state lanes, mostly drop-and-hook, with occasional live loads. This is a full-time, employee-owned company role.
Pay
- $1,700.00 - $2,000.00 per week
Home time
- Dispatch runs on roughly two-week cycles, with drivers out 10-14 consecutive days before a reset
- One application question notes this is a dedicated OTR run to KeHE's distribution centers, drop and hook, on a 2-weeks-out then 36-hour-reset pattern
- Rest happens in the sleeper or at an approved location, and schedules may shift for service needs, weather, maintenance or hours-of-service limits
- You will not be asked to break HOS rules to hit an appointment
What you'll haul
- KeHE products and equipment moving between distribution centers, consolidation points, suppliers, customers and approved third parties
- Mix of dry and temperature-controlled trailers, including fresh and frozen freight that needs temperature monitoring
- Mostly no-touch linehaul, though you may need to check freight, secure pallets, or do light handling to protect the load
- Work includes drop-and-hook, live load/unload, trailer interchange, fueling and scaling as assigned, plus occasional backhauls or external freight to keep equipment utilized
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL with endorsements needed for the assigned equipment and freight
- At least 21 years old and legally able to drive in interstate commerce
- Two years of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer experience, with at least one year multi-state or OTR (a shorter track record may be considered if it meets safety and insurance standards)
- Current DOT medical card, and ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug/alcohol testing and FMCSA Clearinghouse checks
- Clean enough driving, safety and PSP history to meet company and insurance standards; no preventable safety events expected on the job
- Comfortable using an ELD, GPS, telematics (Samsara or similar) and a transportation management system, plus mobile apps for dispatch and paperwork
- Preferred: experience with refrigerated or food-grade freight, shuttle/relay/linehaul or private fleet work, and familiarity with drop-and-hook networks and third-party shipper/receiver rules
- Able to get in and out of the cab, couple/uncouple trailers, hook up air and electrical lines, do ground-level inspections, and lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds (occasionally more with accommodation)
- Work takes place in warehouses, yards, docks and outdoors, in all kinds of weather and road conditions
Benefits
- 401(k) and retirement plan
- Medical, dental and vision insurance, plus health savings and flexible spending accounts
- Disability and life insurance
- Paid time off, paid training and parental leave
- Employee assistance program and referral program
