CDL-A Local Hazmat Driver — Phoenix, AZ — $26–$27/hr

A.G. Layne, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is looking for a part-time local driver to haul packaged hazmat loads. You'll handle deliveries to customer and vendor sites while following strict safety and DOT rules.

Pay

• $26.00 to $27.00 per hour

• Part-time position

• Overtime may be required at times

What you'll haul

• Packaged hazardous materials, delivered locally

• You're responsible for checking load weight and quantity before it's loaded, confirming correct labeling and packaging, and refusing anything mislabeled, leaking or incorrect

Requirements

• CDL-A with hazmat and tank endorsements

• 5 years of verifiable hazmat driving experience preferred

• 3 years of experience with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems required

• Clean driving record, and you must be approved as insurable by the company's insurance carrier

• Physically able to do the job, including lifting around 70 pounds, climbing on and off truck beds/trailers, and wearing a respirator when running a tank trailer

• Forklift certification and hazmat training are a plus

Duties

• Secure loads properly with straps and wheel chocks, apply required stickers, and complete load checklists

• Follow all federal and state DOT rules, carry emergency and spill kits, and follow site safety rules at every stop

• Keep your truck clean, wear required PPE, and treat customers, vendors and coworkers professionally

• Be ready to help other staff and follow supervisor direction when needed

Work environment

• Expect extended sitting and periods of walking, plus using a pallet jack

• Some stops involve high noise or chemical vapor exposure

• Work happens outdoors, so you'll be exposed to seasonal weather
