CDL-A Local Dedicated Grocery Driver — Home Daily, $1,600–$1,680/wk Avg

This is a local dedicated grocery route out of the East Brunswick, NJ area, running out of Chester, NY, with daily home time. Freight is mostly no-touch, though you'll be trained on a pallet jack since you may help unload at other accounts a few days a week.

Pay

• Weekly average: $1,600-$1,680 ($83,600-$87,600 per year average)

• Mileage pay: $0.68-$0.74 per mile, averaging 1,400 miles per week

• Weekly pay guarantee of $1,634, as long as you work at least 5 days and 10 hours in the week

• Per-stop pay: $28.50-$30 per stop, plus $62.50 per load for New York City stops

• Detention pay: $15 per hour

• Truck move pay: $50

• New hire training pay: $200 per day, safety training pay $20 per hour

• Holiday pay: $280 per day

• Paid weekly by direct deposit

Schedule and home time

• Home every day

• Shifts start between 1am and 5am

• Work pattern is either Thursday through Monday or Friday through Tuesday, 5 days a week

• Two 6th days are required each month, and 6th days are mandatory around Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Labor Day and July 4th

• Most days you'll run 2 loads, or sometimes one long load, with multistop routes usually involving 15+ stops per week

What you'll haul

• Grocery deliveries within 250 miles of Chester, NY, covering the Hudson Valley, the five boroughs, Long Island, and into CT and PA on backhauls

• New drivers won't run NYC routes until they've been on the account 6 months or more, and will train first with certified NYC trainers; only about 20-25% of freight goes into NYC

• You'll drive a day cab with a slip seat setup, and the fleet includes newer automatic Freightliner Cascadias

Requirements

• Valid CDL-A

• At least 3 months of experience driving a 53' tractor trailer within the past year (school time and dump truck or garage truck experience don't count)

• Your CDL address has to match the hiring area, and you need to live within 40 miles of East Brunswick, NJ

• SAP drivers need at least 1 year of safe driving since finishing the program

• Hair follicle drug screen required
