This role covers hauling freight across multiple states in a tractor-trailer, with a strong focus on safety and timely deliveries. It's physically demanding and requires careful attention to detail.
What you'll do
- Drive on highways and local roads while following traffic laws, DOT rules, and company policy, keeping a clean driving record
- Check your truck's mechanics, lights, tires, and cargo straps before and after every trip
- Secure freight with chains, ropes, or covers, and help load or unload when needed
- Log your hours, fuel stops, and delivery details as DOT requires
- Stay in touch with dispatch for instructions, updates, and any problems on the road
- Flag any mechanical issues to the right people
Requirements
- Valid CDL-A and current medical certificate
- At least 6 months of tractor-trailer driving experience
- Familiarity with DOT safety rules
- Clean motor vehicle record
