About this job
Our company in Flagstaff, AZ needs a CDL-A driver to handle pickups and deliveries between the Service Center and customers, while also supporting the sales side of the business.
Pay
- Starting at $31.26 per hour
What you'll do
- Run tractor-trailer combinations, which may include doubles, triples (where used) or straight trucks
- Complete pre-trip and safety checks on your equipment each day
- Hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies
- Load and move freight with a forklift, pallet jack or hand truck
- Secure loads with pallets, straps and rope, and fix damaged freight when needed
- Keep required paperwork and reports up to date
- Follow hazmat rules and procedures
- Collect payment for freight charges when required
- Stay in contact with dispatch on delays, arrivals and equipment issues
- Talk with customers about pickup and delivery needs and look for new business opportunities
- Chain tires when conditions call for it
- Step in for road driver or dock duties when the operation needs it
Requirements
- Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (automatic transmission restriction is fine); hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of your start date
- One year of driving experience in the last three years, or completion of the our company Driver Development Course
- Acceptable motor vehicle record per company hiring standards
- Must meet DOT qualification standards under FMCSA Part 391
- If running long combination vehicles (triples, Rocky Mountain Doubles, Turnpike Doubles) in AZ or other approved states, must meet LCV certification standards
- Comfortable with basic math and clear written/verbal communication
- Able to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds several times a week
- Able to sit for long stretches, bend, twist, squat and climb in and out of the truck
- Able to work solo or as part of a team and complete required training
Working conditions
- Driving in all weather and road conditions
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes and DOT-regulated hazardous materials
- Shift hours can vary based on operational needs
