CDL-A City Driver — Starting $33.32/Hr, Top Rate $36.48 After 6 Months

PITT OHIO, a family-owned transportation company, is hiring a Class A City Driver for its Williamsville, NY location. You'll handle local pickup and delivery of general freight, loading and unloading as needed.

Pay

• Starting pay is $33.32/Hr.

• You'll move up to the top rate of $36.48/Hr after 6 months.

• Overtime kicks in right away once you pass 40 hours worked in a week.

What you'll do

• Safely operate a commercial vehicle to pick up and deliver general freight.

• Load and unload trailers yourself or alongside dockworkers, using mechanical equipment where it's available.

• Lift, push, pull and carry freight regularly, and secure loads with straps or other methods as needed.

• Check your vehicle before trips to confirm it's safe and defect-free, per law and company policy.

• Follow federal rules for hauling Hazardous Materials and for hours-of-service driving and rest periods.

• Keep accurate logs and other records required by state and federal law.

• Follow all company procedures and local, state and federal regulations for safe commercial driving.

Requirements

• Two years of verifiable interstate driving experience, or one year plus a diploma from a PITT OHIO-approved driving school.

• Must pass a PITT OHIO driving test given by an approved company trainer.

• A Haz-Mat and Tanker endorsement is required (except for sprinter truck drivers), obtainable within 90 days if you don't already have one.

• You can hold only one valid license, from your state of residence; recent transfers from another state must show proof of the prior license, and you'll need to disclose any licenses held in the last 36 months.

• No license suspension or revocation lasting more than 30 days in the past 36 months (failure-to-pay or failure-to-appear suspensions are okay if there was no conviction for driving while suspended).

• No serious traffic violation convictions or citations in the past 60 months.

• No more than three motor vehicle violations in the past 36 months, and no more than one at-fault accident plus two violations in that same period.

• Must pass a DOT physical and a pre-employment drug screen with a negative result.

• Your last three years with prior employers must show no positive drug or alcohol results and no refusals to test.

• Be ready for a ten-year work history check; any gaps of 30+ days need an explanation and possibly documentation.

• Able to read and write English and do basic math.

• Employment is at-will, and you'll need to consent to driver-facing cameras in the fleet.

• Note: as of January 6, 2020, all CDL drivers must register with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse at https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/register.
