About this job
Our company is looking for an AZ/DZ licensed driver to join its Emergency Response team in Bowmanville, ON, handling hazardous waste transport and emergency spill response. This is a hands-on role that combines regular hazardous waste pickups and deliveries with on-call emergency response work.
What you'll haul
You'll move liquid and solid hazardous waste between customer sites, loading and unloading as needed. Depending on your license, you may operate vacuum trucks, box trucks, or other specialized equipment required for the job.
What you'll respond to
Beyond routine waste hauling, you'll be called out to a wide range of emergencies: chemical and industrial spills, clandestine lab decommissioning, highway accidents involving tractor trailers and leaks, train derailments, fuel spills on waterways (including boom deployment and boat work), and severe weather events like storms, wildfires and floods. You'll coordinate with police, fire, EMS and Environment Canada, complete safety assessments, and keep accurate records of each response.
Schedule
Expect overtime and weekend work, with an on-call rotation in effect weekly.
