CDL-A City Driver — $33.32/hr, Top Rate $36.48 After 6 Months

PITT OHIO, a family-owned transportation company, is hiring a Class A City Driver for its Marcy, NY location to handle local pickup and delivery of general freight.

Pay

• Starting pay is $33.32/hr

• Pay increases to a top rate of $36.48/hr after 6 months

• Overtime kicks in right after 40 hours worked each week

What you'll do

• Operate a commercial tractor-trailer safely for local pickups and deliveries of general freight

• Load and unload trailers yourself or with dock staff, using mechanical equipment when it's available

• Lift, push, pull and carry freight regularly, and secure loads with straps or other methods as needed

• Check your vehicle before driving to confirm it's safe and defect-free, per law and company policy

• Follow all federal rules for hauling Hazardous Materials and driving within hours-of-service limits

• Keep accurate logs and other records required by state and federal law

Requirements

• Two years of verifiable interstate driving experience, or one year plus a diploma from a PITT OHIO-approved driving school

• Must pass a driving test given by an approved PITT OHIO trainer

• Haz-Mat and Tanker endorsements required within 90 days of hire (not required for sprinter truck drivers)

• Only one valid driver's license, issued by your state of residence; must disclose any licenses held in the past 36 months and provide verification if you've recently moved states

• No license suspension or revocation lasting more than 30 days in the past 36 months (failure-to-pay or failure-to-appear suspensions are okay if there was no conviction for driving while suspended)

• No serious traffic violation convictions or citations in the past 60 months

• No more than three moving violations in the past 36 months, and no more than one at-fault accident plus two violations in that same period

• Must pass a DOT physical and a pre-employment drug screen with a negative result

• Clean record for controlled substances and alcohol with prior employers over the past three years, including no refusals to test

• Ten-year work history check required; any gaps of 30+ days must be explained and may need documentation

• Must read and write English and handle basic math

• Must consent to driver-facing cameras used fleet-wide for safety

• Employment is at-will

• All CDL drivers must be registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (required since January 6, 2020); register at clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/register if you haven't already
