About this job
Our company is hiring AZ or DZ licensed drivers for its Ottawa-based location. You would drive a range of industrial and waste-handling units for industrial, commercial, municipal and residential customers.
What you'll drive
- Combination units
- Power vacuum and hydro excavation units
- Box trucks and roll-off bin units
- High-pressure water blasters
- Tractor trailers (for AZ/DZ drivers)
Schedule
- Monday to Friday day shift, plus on-call every 4th weekend
- Extended hours and variable shifts are part of the job
- Automatic and manual transmissions are both available; manual is preferred
Your day-to-day
- Inspect your truck and load before and during trips, and report any defects, accidents, violations or damage
- Secure loads, back into loading and unloading spots, and help load and unload
- Keep your logbook, bills of lading, manifests and service records up to date
- Deliver product and paperwork to customers on time and courteously
- Give supervisors feedback on customer, mechanical or delivery issues
- Follow hours-of-service, dangerous goods, weights and dimensions, and health and safety rules
Requirements
- AZ or DZ licence with a clean driver's abstract and CVOR abstract
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights
- Some mechanical knowledge
- Valid work authorization; GFL does not sponsor visas
