Truck Driver - Radioactive Material Transport

Our company needs truck drivers in Whitby, ON to haul dangerous goods, including radioactive materials, between nuclear plants and industrial sites. This is a safety-critical role with formal training provided before you take on full duties.

Pay

• $33.09–$54.49 an hour

What you'll haul

• Dangerous goods (including radioactive material) and non-dangerous goods between OPG nuclear facilities and private industrial sites

Schedule

• Days and/or rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

• Full-time travel required, with overnight stays and overtime as needed

Requirements

• Valid, unrestricted Ontario Class AZ licence in good standing

• A driving record OPG finds acceptable, verified through a current abstract

• At least 5 years of recent experience driving Class AZ tractor-trailer combinations

• At least 3 years hauling dangerous goods under TDG rules

• Comfortable working at heights and handling the physical demands of securing loads and inspecting vehicles

• High school diploma

• Strong communication skills and comfort using onboard tech, GPS, and electronic logs

• Load securement, specialized equipment, and forklift experience are a plus

What you'll do

• Drive heavy vehicles safely while following all transport regulations

• Secure and cover loads correctly

• Inspect your vehicle before trips

• Keep accurate duty logs and trip paperwork

• Respond appropriately if a transportation emergency occurs

• Direct others helping with loading and unloading

• Handle basic maintenance tasks that don't require trades certification
