About this job
Our company in Brampton, ON needs seasonal Salt Truck Drivers for winter road maintenance. You'll spread de-icing material on roads and help keep the community safe during storms.
Pay
- $20.00-$50.00 per hour
Schedule
- Seasonal role running November through April
- You must be reachable and available on call around the clock for the whole season
What you'll do
- Drive salt trucks fitted with spreaders to lay down salt or other de-icing products on roadways during winter storms
- Check your truck over before each shift to confirm everything is in safe working order
- Work with the road maintenance crew to figure out route priorities and adjust quickly as weather shifts
- Keep accurate records of material used, routes driven and any problems that come up
- Handle basic mechanical fixes and troubleshooting on the truck when needed
- Help load and unload supplies or freight tied to road maintenance work
- Stick closely to safety rules and transportation regulations at all times
Requirements
- Valid AZ, DZ or G driver's license with a clean record, suitable for heavy-duty vehicle operation
- Prior experience running heavy equipment like salt trucks or wheel loaders
- Familiarity with salt truck handling and safety practices in transportation settings
- Capable of basic automotive repair and mechanical troubleshooting
- Good communication skills for working with teammates and reporting on job status
Nice to have
- Forklift certification
- Background in freight logistics
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operating regulations
