About this job
Our company Logistics LLC in Savannah, GA needs a reliable driver for a 2022 Freightliner box truck, mostly running Southeast regional freight with occasional over-the-road trips. You'll haul general dry goods, no hazmat and no passengers.
Pay
- You earn 20% of gross load revenue
- That works out to an estimated $900-$1,800 per week, depending on load availability, miles, freight rates and how many deliveries you complete
- Pay is tied to performance and loads, so it isn't guaranteed
Routes and home time
- Freight mostly covers Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and nearby states, with longer OTR runs offered when needed
- The company will favor regional and repeat lanes that support better home time, and will prioritize dedicated, recurring routes as broker and customer relationships grow
- Right now there's no guaranteed dedicated route
- Weekly home time is the goal when freight allows, but OTR runs may mean a few nights away
- Your schedule depends on customer appointments, freight availability and DOT hours-of-service limits
What you'll haul
- 2022 Freightliner box truck registered at 26,000 lbs GVW
- General dry-van/box-truck freight, no hazardous materials, no passengers
- Truck is equipped with ELD and GPS
Requirements
- CDL is preferred but not required for this 26,000-lb straight truck
- Valid driver's license and a clean enough driving record to pass review
- Current DOT medical card, or the ability to get one
- Box-truck, straight-truck, delivery or other commercial driving experience is a plus, especially time behind the wheel of a 24-foot or 26-foot box truck
- Comfortable using an ELD, GPS and smartphone apps
- Able to properly inspect and secure freight
- Available for regional travel plus occasional overnight or OTR trips
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- Must pass background, driving record and insurance checks
On the job
You'll run pre- and post-trip inspections, secure cargo, keep the truck and cargo area clean, and stay on schedule for pickups and deliveries. Expect to keep accurate electronic logs, bills of lading and delivery paperwork, turn in signed proof-of-delivery after each load, and report any accidents, damage, citations or mechanical issues right away. You'll also need to stay in close contact with dispatch and follow DOT and company safety rules.
Benefits
