About this job
Our company in Houston, TX needs a part-time night driver to handle box truck deliveries and pickups on weekend nights. You'll drive a 26 foot box truck, load and unload freight by hand, and keep your route running on schedule.
Schedule
- Weekend nights, roughly 8 PM to 10:30 PM
What you'll do
- Operate a 26 foot box truck (and sometimes vans) on night delivery and pickup routes
- Load and unload cargo by hand, with pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment, using safe lifting methods
- Follow your planned route and traffic laws to hit delivery windows
- Check the vehicle before and after each shift for safety issues
- Help with warehouse tasks like moving stock and tracking inventory when needed
- Use a mobile device for navigation, confirming deliveries, and staying in touch with dispatch
- Log deliveries, pickups, and vehicle records to meet DOT requirements
Requirements
- Clean driving record
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
- Box truck experience preferred
- Comfortable with manual handling, heavy lifting, and warehouse work
- Experience with pallet jacks or forklifts is a plus
- Understanding of DOT rules on commercial vehicle operation and weight limits
- Able to work independently at night while staying safe and on time
Pay
- Starts at $25.00 per hour
