Part-Time CDL-B Vehicle Transporter (Hiker) — Up to 25 Hrs/Week

Penske is looking for a part-time Hiker to move vehicles between its Indianapolis location and customer sites. This is casual, on-call work, ranging from 0 to 25 hours a week depending on business needs, and it's a good fit if you want supplemental income with flexible hours.

What you'll do

• Drive box trucks up to 26 feet; CDL-A holders will also move tractors and trailers

• Deliver and pick up vehicles at Penske locations and customer sites, following proper safety steps

• Inspect vehicles before driving and flag any mechanical, safety, or emergency equipment problems to your location manager

• Collect signatures, receipts, or payment when a delivery calls for it

• Report any accidents, damage, traffic violations, or vehicle defects

• Help the service department deliver parts and equipment, and take on other tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Valid Class B CDL (Class A preferred); you must live in the U.S. and hold a license in your state of residence

• At least 2 years of driving experience and 2 years of a clean DMV record

• English language proficiency, as required under federal rule 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)

• Able to work independently, follow written instructions, and maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude

• Reliable attendance and the ability to stay alert and safe behind the wheel at all times

• Willing to travel as needed, work required hours and locations, and complete Penske's application process, background check, and drug screening

• As a DOT-regulated driving role, you'll need a current driver qualification file, including a yearly MVR check, a passed DOT physical, and a safety history review covering your last 3 years of employment; CDL holders also complete a DOT drug screen within 30 days of starting and are subject to FMCSA Clearinghouse checks

Physical demands

You'll need good vision and hearing, including close, distance, and peripheral vision and depth perception. The job involves frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of your hands and arms, along with regularly lifting up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs. You must be able to legally drive and safely get in and out of the vehicle and its rear cargo area.
