About this job
Our company is hiring a CDL Class A or B truck driver to pick up, haul, and deliver scrap metal safely and on schedule out of Jeffersonville, IN.
What you'll haul
- Scrap metal, moved via tractor-trailer combination
Responsibilities
- Connect and disconnect trailers, operating landing gear as needed
- Check your rig before, during, and after each run, reporting any issues in writing
- Confirm shipment details against paperwork before hitting the road
- Operate safely in various conditions, including heavy traffic and bad weather
- Keep accurate logs covering hours, fuel, mileage, and other compliance records
- Notify the company promptly of accidents, road hazards, or delivery delays
- Represent the company professionally on every run
Requirements
- At least 21 years old
- Valid CDL Class A or B
- One year of verifiable tractor-trailer or straight truck experience, or 6 months of experience plus CDL school certification
- Strong English communication skills for interacting with law enforcement and company staff
- Working understanding of DOT hours-of-service and safety rules
- Must pass a DOT drug screen, breath alcohol test, and physical exam
