Part-Time CDL-B Hiker/Vehicle Transporter — Flexible Hours

Our company is looking for a part-time Hiker to move vehicles between Penske locations and customer sites in Earth City, MO. This is a casual, on-call role with hours ranging from 0 to 25 per week depending on business needs, scheduled Monday through Thursday, 7am to 4pm. You'll mainly drive box trucks up to 26 feet, and if you hold a Class A CDL you may also move tractors and trailers. You may occasionally help the service department deliver parts and equipment.

What you'll do

• Drive trucks safely between Penske and customer locations

• Inspect vehicles for mechanical, safety and emergency equipment issues and report problems to your location manager

• Collect signatures, receipts or payment when required

• Report any accidents, traffic violations, defects or damage involving the vehicles

• Take on other tasks assigned by your supervisor

Requirements

• At least 2 years of driving experience

• A clean driving record for the past 2 years

• Valid Class B CDL (Class A preferred); you must live in the U.S. and be licensed in your state of residence

• Able to read and follow written instructions, work independently, and bring good customer service and organizational skills

• English language proficiency, per federal DOT requirement (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2))

• Reliable, consistent attendance

• Willingness to travel as needed and work the required schedule and location

• Must pass a background check (employment, education, criminal history) and drug screening, and complete a Penske employment application

• As a DOT-regulated role, you'll need to maintain a current driver qualification file, including an annual MVR check, a DOT physical, and safety history records from employers over the past 3 years; CDL holders complete a DOT drug screen within 30 days of starting and are subject to FMCSA Clearinghouse review

• Able to stay alert and work safely at all times, taking responsibility for your own safety and that of others

Physical demands

• Normal vision and hearing, including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception and focus adjustment

• Frequent standing, walking, sitting and moving, with regular use of hands and arms for reaching and handling

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs/23 kg regularly and up to 100 lbs/45 kg occasionally

• Able to legally drive and safely get in and out of the vehicle and its rear cargo area
