About this job
Our company in Bristol, IN is looking for a Non-CDL driver to run a 26-foot straight truck, delivering aluminum extrusion and related materials to local customers. You will handle loading, securement, and paperwork while working closely with dispatch and the warehouse team.
Pay
- $1,500 sign-on bonus
What you'll haul
- Aluminum extrusion and related materials, delivered to area customers in a 26-foot straight truck
Responsibilities
- Drive the 26-foot straight truck safely, following all local, state, federal and company rules
- Handle narrow streets, tight customer locations and tough road conditions with care
- Load and unload aluminum extrusions using correct handling techniques
- Secure cargo properly with straps, edge protectors or other required equipment, and check it before heading out
- Review shipping documents for accuracy and note any special handling needs
- Wear the required personal protective equipment on the job
- Keep your ELD logbook current per DOT rules
- Fill out pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports
- Keep the truck and your securement gear (straps, tarps, etc.) clean and in good shape
- Stay in professional contact with customers, warehouse staff and supervisors, flagging any delivery problems, damaged goods or customer issues
- Take on other related tasks as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- About 3 years driving a 53ft tractor trailer preferred
- Clean driving record, no more than one major violation in the last 5 years
- Current DOT Medical Card, or able to obtain one
- Able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs and climb on and off a flatbed
- Good spoken and written English
- Comfortable with basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing) and reading a tape measure
- Able to stand for long stretches, bend, reach, twist, turn and climb
Work environment
- Most of your shift is spent driving and loading or unloading freight
- Expect regular lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, plus stooping, kneeling, crouching and some climbing
- Roughly 50% driving, 30% walking, 20% standing
- Work happens outdoors in various weather conditions
