About this job
Our company is hiring a Class 3 (CDL-B) Front Load driver in Victoria, BC to handle residential and commercial waste pickup along an assigned local route.
What you'll do
- Drive and operate a front load collection truck, mechanically picking up waste along your route
- Haul collected waste to GFL disposal facilities
- Navigate using GPS and route maps, backing the truck into tight spaces as needed
- Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle checks and follow proper lockout procedures
- Keep the truck and surrounding areas tidy, cleaning up any spills
- Deal directly and politely with customers and the public, and flag any route problems to your supervisor
Requirements
- Valid Class 3 commercial license
- At least 1 year of commercial driving experience, or a CDL school certificate
- High school diploma or GED
- Comfortable with physical work: lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, climbing
- Able to back the truck accurately over distances of roughly 120 feet or more
- Basic understanding of truck components and routine maintenance
