Local CDL-A Shuttle Driver — $18–$45/hr

Our company is hiring a CDL-A Shuttle Driver to run tractor trailers between remote dispatch sites in Newport News, VA, hauling meats, produce, frozen foods and dry goods. The shift runs Sunday through Friday, starting at 5:00 PM until completion.

Pay

• Starting pay is $18.00 per hour plus component pay tied to stops, miles and cases.

• Top performers can reach up to $45.00 per hour once component pay is included.

• Pay also factors in experience, skills, location and other legal requirements such as state minimum wage.

What you'll haul

• Tractor trailers carrying a mix of meats, produce, frozen goods and dry goods.

• Runs move freight between dispatch sites, with both delivery and backhaul work possible.

Responsibilities

• Drive safely between dispatch points while handling varied product types.

• Step into backhaul or delivery work as needed.

• Complete pre-trip and post-trip equipment checks.

• Confirm freight loaded correctly and monitor trailer temperatures.

• Handle physical tasks like lifting, pushing and pulling 20 to 80+ lbs of product, working in weather and in coolers as cold as 0 degrees, with frequent stops throughout the shift.

Requirements

• Must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse.

• At least 21 years old.

• Valid Class A CDL with required endorsements and DOT qualifications.

• At least 6 months of commercial driving experience.

• Doubles endorsement required; 6+ months driving with a doubles endorsement is preferred.

• Comfortable working overnight shifts.

• Manual transmission skills preferred and may be required at some locations.

• English fluency needed to read signs, communicate and complete reports.
