About this job
Our company is hiring local pick-up and delivery drivers in Eugene, OR. You will collect and deliver freight around the local service area, work Monday through Friday with a 9AM start, and get home every night.
What you'll do
- Pick up and deliver freight safely, making several customer stops and handling freight with a forklift, pallet jack or hand truck.
- Note any shortage or damage in a shipment's count or condition so cargo claims stay low.
- Keep delivery receipts, bills of lading and trailer manifests accurate and complete, including hazardous material shipments and special loading or handling instructions.
- Log required information on an electronic device.
- Make sound decisions that keep routes efficient and customers satisfied.
- Drive to nearby terminals when needed and cover other shifts as business levels require.
- Chaining up and working in bad weather is preferred.
Requirements
- Age 21 or older.
- Class A CDL.
- At least one year of verifiable commercial driving experience on similar equipment.
- Valid DOT medical certification.
- No DUI, reckless driving or positive drug or alcohol screen on your record in the last 3 years.
- Able to communicate well with customers, coworkers and dispatch or managers, with basic English reading, writing and speaking.
- Dependable and able to meet the company's reliability standard.
Endorsements and experience
- Hazmat, Tanker and Doubles/Triples endorsements are not required to apply, but the company requires them within 45 days of hire.
- Doubles/triples and chaining experience is a plus, not a must.
