About this job
Our company needs a CDL Class A driver for local routes out of Portland, Oregon. The job is a W-2 position paying from $30 per hour, and most routes let you get home regularly.
Pay
- From $30 per hour as a W-2 employee
- An extra $50 for every overnight stay the job requires
Home time
- Mostly local runs in the Portland metro area
- Now and then an overnight trip may be needed
What you'll do
- Run assigned local routes, plus occasional overnight ones, in a tractor-trailer
- Pick up and deliver freight on the scheduled times
- Do pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Obey federal, Oregon, Washington, local and company safety rules
- Secure cargo properly and handle freight safely, loading or unloading with the right equipment when asked
- Keep your logs, delivery receipts, manifests and other paperwork accurate
- Stay in touch with dispatch about progress, delays, equipment trouble or delivery issues, and report maintenance or safety problems quickly
Requirements
- A valid CDL Class A license
- Tractor-trailer experience is preferred
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety
- Experience with cargo securement and freight handling
- Good communication and time management, and a dependable, safety-minded attitude
