About this job
Run a dedicated intermodal container account out of North Charleston, SC, home every day. You'll shuttle loaded containers from Charleston-area port terminals to nearby customers and back, with an average one-way run of just 20 miles.
Route
You'll grab loaded containers from one of three Charleston-area port terminals and deliver within a 150-mile radius, then bring the empty back. Freight is no-touch, with drop-and-hook or live unload. Drivers are hired from the Charleston, Summerville, and Mount Pleasant area.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, starting at 5:00 am, within company hours of 5 am to 6 pm. Expect about one Saturday a month.
Pay
$25.00 per hour on weekdays, $30.00 per hour on weekends. Hazmat loads add $10 each. A $500 new-hire transition bonus pays out on your second paycheck. Orientation pays $250. Referral bonus totals $3,000, split into $1,000 payments at your 2nd paycheck, 60 days, and 120 days.
Equipment
Day cab pulling a container chassis, manual transmission, governed at 65 mph.
Requirements
- Valid CDL-A
- 6 months of container or tanker experience in the last 3 years
- Hazmat endorsement
- TWIC card
- Able to drive manual transmission (road test required, no auto restriction)
Orientation
Held onsite in North Charleston, SC, with classes on Tuesdays only.
