DZ Spare Driver / Material Handler — $33.90/hr Driving, $23.17/hr in Plant

Our company in Cambridge, ON needs a spare driver who also works as a material handler/order picker when not out on the road. You'll fill in for full-time drivers delivering finished product and picking up raw materials at the mills, and spend the rest of your time handling material in the plant.

Pay

• $33.90/hour while driving

• $23.17/hour while working in the plant

• Target variable pay of 4%

Driving duties

• Deliver finished goods to customers and pick up raw materials from the mills

• Secure each load so it's safe and compliant

• Handle scanning, billing and other paperwork tied to each trip

• Fill out trip sheets and electronic logs, and keep vehicle condition and maintenance records current

• Keep your commercial license valid and follow DOT and local traffic rules

• Occasionally collect customer payments after a delivery

• Represent the company professionally with customers and the public, and be reliable about showing up when a full-time driver can't make it

Plant duties

• Run lifting equipment safely, including a daily pre-start inspection

• Check incoming material against the bill of lading and tag stock

• Pick and load material by scanning product tags against pick lists

• Keep inventory locations updated and move material around the building as needed

• Prepare and tag ASIS and finished goods, and stage material for processing

• Store product safely, inside and outside

• Flag damaged equipment or non-conforming product to Shipping/Receiving or the Production Supervisor

• Keep your work area clean, pitch in on improvement ideas, and help train new hires

• Handle other tasks as assigned

You'll work with company trucks, binders, chains, slings and straps, electronic logbooks, cranes, booms, lift trucks, side loaders, scanners, saws, nail guns and banding equipment, handling ferrous and non-ferrous products, extrusions and long products.

Requirements

• Valid DZ driver's license

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience

• Good time management and ability to work solo or as part of a team

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
