DZ Roads Driver — Seasonal, $31.57-$33.09/hr

The County of Prince Edward is hiring temporary, full-time Roads Drivers for its Operations Department, with multiple spots open for the winter season. You'll handle road, sidewalk and bridge upkeep, including patching potholes and clearing snow and ice, while running winter control equipment as needed. These positions run for 4 to 6 months.

What you'll do

• Patch roads and repair potholes

• Clear snow and ice from sidewalks, crosswalks and doorways by hand

• Operate winter control equipment when operations call for it

• Handle other seasonal tasks tied to road and infrastructure upkeep

• Run tandem and single axle trucks for maintenance, construction and snow clearing work

Requirements

• Valid class DZ driver's license with a clean driver's abstract

• Grade 12 diploma plus relevant experience, or 5 years driving DZ vehicles; prior time behind a snowplow, dump truck or similar equipment is a plus

• Background running heavy equipment

• Comfortable working solo or alongside a crew

• Solid communication and customer service abilities

• Familiarity with Occupational Health & Safety Act rules and training

• Able to push, pull and lift heavy loads regularly and work outdoors in unpredictable conditions

Pay

$31.57 to $33.09 per hour (Band 8 under CUPE Local 2275's Collective Agreement), plus 10% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation. You'll also have the option to join OMERS, a defined benefit pension plan.
