Miller Waste Systems in Pembroke, ON is hiring a full-time DZ driver for residential waste collection. You'll run routes picking up garbage, recycling and yard waste for homes in the community, reporting to the Route Supervisor.
Pay
- $29.06 per hour
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, starting at 5:30am
- Permanent full-time position, starting immediately
- Start and finish times can shift day to day, and you may need to work Saturdays, Sundays or statutory holidays at times
What you'll do
- Collect yard waste, blue box/green bin recycling and household garbage from residential customers
- Haul collected materials to transfer stations, compost facilities or landfills on schedule
- Lift and empty bags or cans up to 50 lbs into a 2-person truck's hopper or a 1-person side loader
- Return emptied bins to the curb upside down, in the spot where you picked them up
- Handle more than 800 residential stops per shift
- Follow MTO, Ministry of Environment and municipal bylaw requirements, along with all company safety rules
- Deal courteously with residents, coworkers, supervisors and the public
Requirements
- Valid DZ driver's licence
- Clean driver's abstract with no preventable accidents in the past year
- About a year of experience with each truck type used is a plus, not mandatory
- Comfortable working solo with little oversight
- Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Able to adapt to variable start/end times and occasional weekend or holiday shifts
