TIPS is hiring on behalf of a large, privately owned Canadian waste management company for a residential waste collection driver in Burlington, ON. You'll pick up yard waste, recycling, green bin and garbage from homes and haul it to transfer stations, compost sites or landfills.
Pay
- The posting lists two different rates: $28.18 per hour and $28.68 per hour.
Schedule
- Permanent, full-time position.
- Tuesday to Friday, starting at 6:30am.
- You'll report to the Route Supervisor.
What you'll do
- Service residential routes for yard waste, blue box, green bin and/or garbage.
- Make over 800 stops per day along your assigned route.
- Lift bags and cans weighing up to 50 lbs from the ground into the hopper, about a 2-foot lift.
- Return emptied bins to the resident's property, upside down, where you found them.
- Follow MTO, Ministry of Environment and local municipal bylaw requirements, plus all company safety procedures.
- Interact respectfully with coworkers, supervisors, residents and the public.
Requirements
- Valid DZ licence.
- 3 years of DZ driving experience required.
- 1 year of waste collection experience preferred.
- Clean driver's abstract and CVOR.
- Familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- English required.
- Good physical condition is an asset given the lifting involved.
- Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work well with a team.
