DZ Pickup and Delivery Driver — $24.00-$27.17/hr Part-Time

Our company needs a part-time DZ driver to collect and deliver fresh, frozen and dry food between retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, farmers and more than 80 community partner agencies across York Region. You'll work closely with the Logistics Manager and the rest of the collection and distribution team.

Pay

• $24.00 to $27.17 per hour

• No healthcare benefits included

Schedule

• Part-time, at least 8 shifts per month, up to about 15 hours per week

• Variable day shifts based on the schedule set by the Logistics Manager

• Noted as a good fit for firefighters

What you'll do

• Load and check the truck before heading out, confirming cargo is secure and paperwork matches the shipment

• Check tires, lights, brakes and fluids, and complete daily MTO inspection forms for the office

• Keep required maintenance and driving records up to date

• Plan efficient routes and deliver or pick up orders on time for each agency's needs

• Stay in touch with the Logistics Manager for any changes during your route

• Log contact details for partner agency staff, volunteers or food donors

• Record all pickups and deliveries

• Hand-unload goods to the tailgate for clients and their volunteers

• Follow organizational policies and keep a clean driving record

Requirements

• Valid DZ license (or higher) held for at least 3 years, with 4 years of DZ driving experience

• Clean driving record, including a current driver's abstract

• Comfortable reading maps and planning routes

• Strong attention to detail and a professional manner

• Good verbal, written and listening skills, able to follow written procedures

• Able to lift, carry and handle loads up to 50 lbs, including hand-unloading refrigerated trucks

• Own a cell phone

• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Proton Food Handling Course required, training provided

• Must be able to commute to the Concord, ON location in under 25 minutes

Work is performed in person at the Concord, ON facility.
