About this job
Our company is hiring an owner-operator with their own 3-Ton Straight Truck for local courier deliveries based in Ottawa, ON. You'll handle pickups and deliveries, loading and unloading freight safely, and keeping your vehicle clean and roadworthy.
Pay
- $52.31 an hour
- Extra $0.25/km for distance over 161 km/day on your normal route
- Fuel bought at approved stops is charged to you at $0.408 per litre (gas or diesel)
- Uniform allowance of $500 per unit per year
- $200 quarterly safety bonus if you qualify
Home time
Local work, Monday to Friday, home daily. Start as early as 7:00 a.m. and finish as late as 7:00 p.m., depending on operational needs.
What you'll haul
General courier freight using your own 3-Ton Straight Truck, which must have a rear lift gate and heater/reefer unit.
Requirements
- Class DZ licence
- At least 2 years of safe courier driving experience
- Clean driver's abstract and criminal background check
- High school diploma or GED
- Own a reliable 3-Ton Straight Truck, no more than 8 years old, maintained and up to date on inspections
- Truck must be painted Midland Green and branded with Midland logos
- Able to lift up to 70 lbs with proper equipment
- Strong work ethic, safety awareness, and good communication skills
